What is EAI?
Enterprise Application Integration has grown out of
the need for organisations to interconnect existing systems and enhance
these systems without the need to replace tried and trusted solutions. The
systems connected may be written in different programming languages, managed
by separate companies and even hosted in different countries.
EAI is made easier by the modern generation of integration suites,
SeeBeyond's e*Integrator and iCAN software, BEA's Weblogic, IBM's
Websphere and Microsoft's Biztalk are some of the leading suppliers
in today's market. These tools provide an execution framework and
a library of components for carrying out common operations (such as
endpoint connectivity). These tools cannot however be used to connect
systems “out of the box”, major projects typically spend
a considerable amount of time and money configuring and adding to
these packages. Perry Lewis specialises in helping organisations to
maximise the benefits of these products. Furthermore our extensive
library of pre-developed components can really save time when integrating.
Company ethos
Our company ethos is focused around craftsmanship
and pride in our work. Its clear form the number of bug ridden software
releases and failed projects that the modern technology market is focused
on promising a lot and delivering a little; Perry Lewis specialise in
getting things right at design time, and in building extensibility and
re-usability into the solution at every stage of the project. Sometimes
clarifying all the requirements and thoroughly testing all deliverables
can seem like hard work and an unnecessary overhead, but we believe
that if you don't make sure that all the building blocks are right then
the beautiful solution you are building may well turn out to be a house
of cards.
